this is werid

i just went out with my dog looked up at the night sky and i saw this werid thing happening it was a star with what looks like a trail of white stuff coming off it and before you think it's a plane it is not moveing form it's location does any one know what it is

it's gone now so it might have been the star expoding or a plane or something but it was werid

That was probably McNaught's Comet. It's a beauty that's visible in the daytime in the Northern Hemisphere atm and here in Aus it's visible just after sunset in the South West just abover the horizon.

That's a pretty interesting phenomena. From what I understood it's probably a comet. Nodonn's probably right - it might be McNaught's Comet.
