That's beautiful; I never realized Andromeda took up so much space in the night sky. The light of our cities really hide a lot of wonders in the night!

If only our eyes could allow for a larger light gathering time, it would be a truely, visually stunnung, universe to all.

I used this picture as a background on my computer. I'll keep it there for a few days until another one catches my fancy.

I am very glad someone out there liked the image!
There exists an older version of this kind of image done by NOAO long ago. I thought it time to try to create an updated version!

Me too It's an excellent picture. I didn't realise it was so large in the sky!
Next time there's a clear night, I'm off up the moors for a look near Cassiopea with the binoculars.

I never realized the scale!

Thanks for this image, of the moon superimposed to scale over Andromeda. I have looked at both through bare eye, binoculars, and various telescopes and I never realized the actual proportions. I am simply a rank amateur and I knew Andromeda was BIG, but I just never realized HOW big it is in the sky. Thank you for putting this into perspective for me! Oh, how I love this stuff!
