From today's APOD comment:
1. Its title: NGC 5067;
2. Its comment: IC 5067, also known as The Pelican Nebula;
And 3. From the link to November 30th: Also known as IC 5070.

My question is: What is the exact name of the nebulae of today and of Nov. 30th?

As near as I can tell they are the same thing. Not sure why unless for references to segments of the nebula.

I would guess that many objects might reside in either or both the "New General Catalog (NGC) catalogs

http://www.ngcic.org/ngciccat.htm

Those that are found in both catalogs would have a number designation in both and keeping the NGC and IC numbers the same would aid in the catalog searching process.

Hello All

Thank you Bmaone23 and orin for the links

Great stuff.

Happy New Year and a post Merry Xams.

Does anybody know why they say "Merry" Xmas.

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

My wife just told me it stands for "Blessed" meaning to be blessed at Xmas.
