Directions?

Post by nlmarsh » Tue Sep 26, 2006 3:53 am

It really would be very helpful if the editors could indicate directions, (ie.N,S,E,W), on the pictures presented ... for instance the 'face on mars' ... which slope are we to look at? And to compare one galaxy picture with another really needs some directional help!javascriptemoticon(':?')
Confused
Cheers ... Neil Marsh in Australia.

In the top image, The pointed ridge at the top (left) of the mountain is the brow ridge in the viking image, the central ridge is the nose, the depression between the two is the eye (in shadow in the viking image), and the ridge farthest right is the chin with the mouth depression in between.

(the face is the small rock feature that sits right in the middle of the image below the original viking image) (I think thet the mountain complex at the 9:00 position resembles a large lion face)

the view would be from over the top of the little crater just below and left of the face in this original viking image
