Night Sky, Backyard Astronomy for Everyone

Wow, I bought my first ever Night Sky magazine (Nov/Dec), still have not read a single article. Have to get past salivating at the telescopes. What is that, software, dial in stars on the telescope? The main item I found useful is the sky charts for November and another for December; those are keep em’s.

I wonder what would be left to the magazine if all the commercialism were removed?

Too bad, their web site doesn't have the Evening Sky Charts but there is most likely other less commercialized web sites.

I have that problem too. Been thinking seriously about getting a new 'scope by next summer or so.

I have been leaning toward an 8" or a 9.25" Schmitt-Cassegrain:

It will be quite a step up from my 4.5" Newtonian.

Good move orca. A newton telescope is to easily affected by the wind. Even a weak wind. I should have done the same move your doing and get myself a schmitt-cassegrain.
