While Gale (FieryIce) and I have thought that Mars was catastrophically flooded, several times, for the past few years, it is heart warming to note that others are really starting to come around. Now that they have found out where the water went for the most part.

This image shows remarkable evidence of massive flooding. Although I strongly disagree about it having happened QUOTE "some time in the distant martian past." UQ.

Not sure how many of you here watch the other POD's, but it would be nice to have a
discussion on some of the other astronomy pics of the day.

notice all of the craters are filled with dust and most overlay the flow pattern. also there are several double craters. the large crater center shows erosion but also an fresher impact on the outflow channel.
The crater at top center appears to have been filled in sedimented and been eroded out again by the flow. so there is evidence that it was not at the beginning of Mars history but certainly long enough ago to make it in it's 'distant' past.

I'm not sure why the flooding on Mars took so long to be "accepted".

Maybe with more study we will even find out how it flooded?

Or, you can try to persuade your ISP to set up this stuff. It's free proxy that overcompresses images. To my memory, it even does jpg2k support.

As I do find this solar system and heavenly research to be intrigueing to say the least I may just have to go satalite hook up on the boat. COST

Evidence points to volcanic and impact heating to be the cause most of the flooding on Mars. It is most likely that the flooding has tapered off as the planet has cooled. Most of the flooding happened over billions of years, very little, but some, has happened in the last million. I would guess that a noticeable flooding event now would happen once in 10 to 100 thousand years.

While it is true that many scientists today would agree with you, I have my doubts about that scenario of events being the true cause and effect of what we see.

From all the evidence I have seen and studied for the past three and a half years, and coupled with several decades of following closely all the Mars missions of mankind, there may be another scenario that more closely matches the evidence. Time will tell which "theory" was correct, as with all theories. IMHO these events happened with in the last 50,000 years, and most probably with in the past 5,000 years.
