anyway, my question, well qeury is on the enlarged version you see many galaxies in the distance which makes for quite a stunning image, but the bright edge on galaxy thats direction is upwards, looks remarkably similar to the sombrero galaxy, pardon me if it is, i just thought that if the larger galaxy were so much brighter, no one would really bother about it, but yeh, is it the sombrero or not?

Looking closely at the two images, you will notice that in this image http://antwrp.gsfc.nasa.gov/apod/image/ ... st_big.jpg
there is a bright star in the lower right quadrant near to the galaxy that isn't in this one http://antwrp.gsfc.nasa.gov/apod/image/ ... t_full.jpg. The galaxy in the latter image also appears to be stretched (there is a slight streamer or tail that stretches to the bottom of the image near to the small bright blue spot). The two galaxies are astoundingly similar though.
