SH2-86

SH2-86 is an emission nebula in constellation Vulpecula with an apparent diameter of about 40 arcmin. The nebula is not very bright but contains some interesting pillar-structures and Bok globules.

ISS solar transit with new iROSA panels visible

This image is an individual single frame exposure of 0.4ms (not a composite). The image was captured at 10:22:15 PDT on June 30, 2021, from Escondido, CA. This individual frame represents the sharpest from a series that captured the ISS transiting the Sun. The full sized image (4200x4200) is available by direct link below.

The transit duration was 0.68s, and the best individual frame (0.4ms exposure) clearly shows the new iROSA (roll out solar array) panels that were recently installed (inset at upper right shows a 300% enlargement of the ISS). The new panels are visible as darkened regions in between the main panels. Multiple sunspots are observed in the image, including the prominent region AR2835.

The image was captured in Escondido, CA using a 6" f/6 Newtonian telescope (TPO), ASI183mm camera, and Baader MPCC Mark III coma corrector. A standard white light solar filter was used in front of the telescope aperture, and an additional 610nm long pass filter was used on the camera. The shutter speed was 0.4ms and the video frame rate was 24fps. The original data is monochrome, and the colorized images were generated using channel specific gamma adjustments (RGB=1.0, 0.6, 0.1). The range to the ISS was 502km and the apparent size of the spacecraft was 55 arcseconds. The ground track of visibility was plotted in Google Maps using software from Ed Morana (link below).

Cloud Iridescence

One of the best cloud iridescence I have ever seen till now. This was from yesterday evening from the skies of Bangalore, India. This is a phenomenon due to diffraction of small water droplets or ice crystals. As this happened during the sunset, you can see a bunch of Rose Ringed Parakeets passing through.

Attached is a photo of the Sun's Perihelion to Aphelion for 2021.
It took me about 6 months to complete this project.

I used sharpcap to acquire videos of the sun on both days.
I ran both programs through AutoStakerrt3! and stacked the 100 best frames for each. I loaded each file into ImPPG and processed them to my liking. I then loaded them up into photoshop to blend the two images together.

Window to the galaxy

The Milky Way seen from Santa Severa (Rome) on First of July 2021 at 11.00 pm with Nikon 1200D modified Super UV-IR CUT and Astro-tracker. 12 minutes total integration. In the image you can see the constellations and deep sky objects with their nomenclature.

First appearance of comet NEOWISE’s faint gas tail on July 7, 2020. The dust tail was bright, but did you also see the blue ion (gas) tail? This SkyScape scenery was taken exactly one year ago over the village church of Spicheren in France.

Sh2-119, or Sharpless 119, is a large complex of emission nebulosity in Cygnus constellation, about 2 degrees east of the North America Nebula. It is located just around 68 Cygni, a quite bright star of magnitude 5. The nebula was catalogued by astronomer S. Sharpless in his famous "Catalogue of HII Regions", published in 1959. Sharpless described it as a large (it has an apparent diameter of about 2 degrees) and bright nebula. The nebula is crossed by several areas of dark dust, especially in the southern part.

M27

M27 (also known as Dumbbell Nebula) is a planetary nebula in constellation Vulpecula with an apparent diameter of about 16 arcmin. Most sources only state about 7 arcmin. But this is only the bright inner structure. This pictures also show the faint outer shell.

The bright galaxy NGC 3810 demonstrates classical spiral structure in this very detailed image from Hubble. The bright central region is thought to be forming many new stars and is outshining the outer areas of the galaxy by some margin. Further out the galaxy displays strikingly rich dust clouds along its spiral arms. A close look shows that Hubble’s sharp vision also allows many individual stars to be seen. Hot young blue stars show up in giant clusters far from the centre and the arms are also littered with bright red giant stars.

Data was taken by the Hubble Advanced Camera for Surveys (ACS) from the following Hubble proposal: https://archive.stsci.edu/proposal_sear ... st&id=9353, and processed by me.
