Sanctuary Basilica of Our Madonna of Tears

Description: Of Saturday, November 30, 2019, at 19:46:24 I found myself in the upper part of the city, where the panorama allowed me to capture this alignment composed of moon, Saturn, Venus, Jupiter. All wrapped up in the context of the city of Syracuse, where you can see the famous Sanctuary Basilica of Our Lady of Tears erected in memory of the miraculous tearing of a plaster effigy depicting the Immaculate Heart of Mary, placed at the bedside of the Iannuso couple near their humble home in via degli Orti in Syracuse, in 1953.


John Paul II consecrates the sanctuary.
In 2002 John Paul II elevated the sanctuary to the dignity of a minor basilica with the name of "Basilica of the Madonna delle Lacrime sanctuary".

Only from NGC604 to NGC588.

I tried to show all this beautiful Hα regions with a maximum definition on the context of this galaxy, covering only half degree region.

I keep this object as diffuse as it is but searching the max resolution that I could obtain with my equipament. It was necessary to integrate close to 29 hours of frames.

It's a very common object but I hope that I could show you a different perspective.

NGC 6384. KG Observatory. Julian, CA.

This galaxy lies in the constellation of Ophiuchus (The Serpent Bearer), not far from the centre of the Milky Way on the sky. The positioning of NGC 6384 means that we have to peer at it past many dazzling foreground Milky Way stars that are scattered across this image.

Peering at a galaxy 80 MILLION light years away through Milky Way stars THOUSANDS of light years away makes for some very challenging acquisition and processing.

The star Merope on December 3rd, 03:26ut. Merope is a blue-white B-type subgiant with a mean apparent magnitude of +4.14. It has a luminosity of 630 times that of the Sun and a surface temperature of 14,000 kelvins. Merope's mass is roughly 4.5 solar masses and has a radius more than 4 times as great as the Sun's. It is classified as a Beta Cephei type variable star. The nebulosity seen here is light reflected from the particles in an interstellar cloud of cold gas and dust into which the cluster has drifted. ( LX200ACF 305mm OTA, F6.3, ST2000xm Ccd, AO8, CF9, Astronomik HaGB filter set.).

Marc Toso The Winter Sky over Three Finger Canyon in the San Rafael Swell.

Orion has set behind the sandstone walls and Pleiades is resting in the notch.

Most of my photographs have focused on the core, however in this image we are staring outwards into the beyond of our galaxy.

For me night photography is more than the photography of stars and constellations and capturing beautiful colors or compositions. It's about the photography of ideas and concepts. The photography of our awareness, photographing where our planet, solar system and galaxy are in time and space, hence ultimately ourselves and our place in the cosmos.

At a distance of about 40 million light years, in the southern constellation of Columba, NGC 1808 is undergoing a significant period of star birth with an active bright core and as such is classified as a Seyfert spiral galaxy. While the active inner regions are quite bright, the outer spiral arms are diffuse and relatively faint. Overall it has an apparent magnitude of 10.8
