APOD 02/08/2005

Looking at the APOD for 02/08/2005, without knowing speed, distance, reflective or self illumination or, relative brightness, all guesses will be pure speculation. If this object was viewed simultaneously on the next island, get the information, triangulate, and make some calculations to rule out as many scenarios as possible.

It could be anything. From a meteor to an asteroid. From a satelite to an alien craft. Possibilities are endless on what this image shows. Not much room for discussion.

Too high to be a satellite, to slow to be a comet, but it could be one of the propulsion stages of apollo 12, because one of them (I can't remenber if it was the 2 or 3) entered heliosyncron orbit. That would account for the slow motion and reflectivity (they were painted white, and they were big). Also that might explain why it is not on heavens-above, since it is not orbiting our planet.

From the thread there seems to be general agreement that is is the excess fuel dump from a satellite that was launched that night.
