APOD Lectures in early January 2018 in NYC and DC

There are currently two APOD presentations that will occur in early January. Both events are free and open to the public. The level of the lectures is appropriate for all audiences, including children and people who are just really interested in science and space.
New York City on Friday, 2018 January 5
The first APOD "Best Space Images of 2017 and All Time" lecture will be given by APOD editor Robert Nemiroff at the American Museum of Natural History (AMNH) at the invitation of the Amateur Astronomers Association of New York. This presentation will be in the Kaufmann Theater, will begin at 6:15 and end at 8:00 p.m. The AMNH is on Central Park West between 77th and 81st streets, but please use the 77th Street entrance. Washington DC on Tuesday, 2018 January 9
Two back-to-back APOD lectures will be given by both APOD editors Robert Nemiroff and Jerry Bonnell on Tuesday, January 9 from 7 - 9 pm. It turns out they know each other! (Although they rarely appear together.) These lectures will occur in the large Potomac D Room of the Gaylord Convention Center at the National Harbor near Washington, DC. The official address is 201 Waterfront St, Oxon Hill, MD 20745. Although these lectures are held in conjunction with the entrance fee-based American Astronomical Society (AAS)'s Winter meeting, APOD has been given special permission to make this session free and open to the public. APOD also invites the public to bring their best space questions, as the APOD editors as well as members of AAS will try to field reasonable questions on any astronomy-related topic, including, for example, black holes, gravitational waves, and supernovas. (Note the room is actually Potomac D ["Dee"].)
A third presentation may occur in the Philadelphia area on Saturday, 2018 January 6, but the details have yet to be worked out. This post may be edited as additional information becomes available.
