Anyone have any thoughts on this?? Odd they would try to draw comparisons to the 1908 blasts...................

I don't know... all I know is that the aliens or missile suggestions are laughable and not at all plausible. The natural gas theory sounds like the only reasonable explanation, though that definitely requires investigation into exactly how and why. I'm dubious about the climate change connection. It's a start but I think it's premature to attribute them to that so quickly. Meteors don't make sense because of the giant sink holes below.

The first hole bore no resemblance to a meteor strike, but the idea was pretty obvious (especially given that Russia seems to be a meteor magnet). The new holes completely remove that option from the table.

I think something related to climate change is very plausible. Curious things happen where you have permafrost, both chemical (like methane clathrates) and mechanical (like pingos). So as we start getting permafrost melting (which is documented, and is a consequence of global warming) it isn't surprising that we might see curious things like this.

Yeah, meteor strikes seem to explode outward, the picture on the link seems pretty clean, which leads me to believe it came from below.

Or Aliens!!! :) :)
