Recently, a group at MIT's Kavli Institute held a contest called "The Art of Astrophysics". Just this week, they announced the winners.
...The first-prize winner is a great interpretative dance of nuclear fusion in a star, which we always appreciate since we love to talk about stellar evolution. You can view all of the winners here at http://www.flickr.com/photos/artofastro ... 466634434/.
I found it addictive viewing... :D

That was nice Margarita.

Hay, did you notice that geckzilla was also one of the prize winners! Vary deservedly so too, for her 100 Planetary Nebulas. It shoulda placed higher tho, IMO.

Oh my! Was that by geckzilla?! It is BEAUTIFUL! I'm viewing on my Tablet at present and I just looked at the artworks, not the info about who had made them, as the screen is so small.

I'll go back to the site on my PC later on!

Thanks for telling us, Bruce!

PS. It could be quite fun to see if one can play "Name That Nebula"! And then check at the link below.
I recognise many (not by any means all) but often can't remember the NAME!

Please visit Judy Schmidt's original posting (http://www.flickr.com/photos/geckzilla/11467616406/) of this piece for information about each individual planetary nebula, and more beautifully processed Hubble images!

Only MIT people can place higher. I was happy they accepted unaffiliated entries. :)
