On July 30 we got some very bright and beautifull NLCs upp here in Stockholm.
I work on an extended timelapse to study the intricate way the NLCs suddenly appear, evolve and dissapear.
Whenever possible I use the proper motion of the clouds in subsequent images to extrude the 3D effect. The stereoscopic images and the timelapses help to understand this evolution
In this case it was quite complicated as there are 2 lower layers of clouds moving in opposite directions and the NLCs themselves moved slowly in a rotational way, a little bit like a cyclone.

A circumpolar star is a star that, as viewed from a given latitude on Earth, never sets (that is, never disappears below the horizon), due to its proximity to one of the celestial poles. Circumpolar stars are therefore visible from said location towards nearest pole for the entire night on every night of the year (and would be continuously visible throughout the day too, were they not overwhelmed by the Sun's glare).

All circumpolar stars are within the circumpolar circle. This was in fact the original meaning of "Arctic Circle", before the current geographical meaning, meaning "Circle of the Bears" (Ursa Major, the Great Bear; and Ursa Minor, the Little Bear), from Greek αρκτικός (arktikos), "near the Bear", from the word άρκτος (arktos) bear.

The Path of Jupiter from December 13 2012 to March 4 2013 by Radical Retinoscopy, on Flickr

The apparent motion of Jupiter can be seen in Taurus from December 13, 2012 to March 4, 2013. The sequence was started shortly following Jupiter's opposition on December 3, 2012. The planet was stationary on January 30, 2013 with retrograde motion shortly afterward. The sequence was made of seventeen images using a Canon T2i and aligned using Images Plus and combined in StarStaX. Varying exposure lengths were utilized depending on atmospheric and meteorological conditions.

Clouds, the Southern Cross and a Meteor on a Moonlit Night

Seen out of an airplane window on a flight across the Pacific Ocean, about 1,500 miles south of Hawaii. The picture was taken on December 13, 2011. I got lucky, and this hand-held 1.3 second exposure came out reasonably sharp, except for some motion blur on the clouds in the foreground. Judging from the its direction the meteor was probably part of the Geminid shower. (To see the meteor, click on the picture for a high-resolution version.)

Moon from Spaceship Earth!

Many times we don't realize that we are living aboard a fast moving spaceship and sometimes we need to remind ourselves about that, since its the only one we've got! I think this image depicts nicely the fact that we are standing on a very rare place on the galaxy and we are blessed on having such a big and beautiful partner!

The image was made with a Takahashi TSA102 refracting telescope and a Canon 5D DSLR camera.

This is a wide field image of Orion's belt and Sword region. I won first place at the Winter Star Party's wide field category with this data (2013), but this is cropped down, and reprocessed from that entry (and it's much better I think). This was an hours worth of exposure time with a modified Canon 5D Mark II and a 200mm Canon lens @ f/2.8.
