Seminars

In addition to the astronomy and physics courses housed on Asterisk, Asterisk is now hosting seminars. Our first seminar series is from the Meta Institute for Computational Astrophysics (MICA), a professional and educational organization which uses virtual worlds to host its activities; these seminars were held in Second Life (SL).
For this initial series, we’ll be posting a new seminar every weekend starting April 22. There are 13 seminars in this series; topics include dark energy, galaxy collisions, quantum energy, dark matter, and, by Physics Nobel Laureate John Mather, the history of the universe.
For this first series, the seminars, one-hour long, have slides in PDF format and an MP3 file. To listen to the seminar, use the streaming audio available on the Asterisk blog or click on the link to download the file; as the audio files are typically quite large, how long the download takes will depend on how fast your connection is.
We hope you enjoy the seminars!
