This image is a mix of an old Reflex sequence and a newer CCD sequence.
CCD imaging has added more color contrast thanks to Ha and the image is deeper than before.
There is a big and faint external halo surrounding galaxy you can see it in my picture. It extends also beyond this picture dimension

Groups of spots in the sun. From left to right: 1432-1429-1430, and below 1428. The blue circle, it would be the proportional size of the Earth and the sun. And we also appreciate the step size of the large sunspot belonging to the group 1429.

After some reprocessing my moon mosaic got to its final result. It consists of 107 images and is 18mp large. I think it's one of the largest and most detailed moon images made by a single observer using a series produced (c11) telescope. The image can be found here:

http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7057/6817 ... a781_o.jpg

It has been a hit on the bad Astronomy site:

NGC 3324 and gem cluster

Posted: Wed Mar 14, 2012 4:21 pm
by matitoma
Hello everyone, my name is Matias Tomasello, and I am an astrophotographer living in Buenos Aires, Argentina.I would like to share this image of NGC 3324, emission nebula located in the northwest corner of the giant southern nebula Eta Carina (NGC 3372). The Eta Carina nebula lies about 7500 light years, and takes its name from the supergiant and active star Eta Carinae, It host several star clusters and smaller nebulae , like the one we are seeing now. NGC 3324 is also known as the "Gabriela Mistral Nebula" because of its striking resemblance to the profile of the Chilean poet, Nobel Prize winner in 1945, born and raised in the region of Elqui, a place that is also home to the Cerro Tololo, Cerro Pachon and Cerro Morado professional astronomical observatories . Here you can see an animated file I put together to see the likeness between gabreila mistral profile and NGC 3324.
Thank you all for your attention,
Matias.
