Sun Halo over the "Sleeping beauty castle"
http://stefanoderosa.com/
Copyright: Stefano De Rosa

Please find below an image I took on November 1st, 2011 showing a sun halo with sundogs next to the world-famous Neuschwanstein Castle in southern Germany, the iconic palace that was an inspiration for Disneyland’s Sleeping Beauty Castle. The shot was taken around midday when the Sun was rising from behind the Alps. Other images of the session are posted here: http://stefanoderosa.com/2011/11/04/ato ... ty-castle/

Meteor in the Zodiacal Light between Regulus and Mars

On the morning of November 5th the zodiacal light was clearly visible from NAO Rozhen.
I was taking image series when this bright meteor (possible radiant in Ursa Major, as I so a couple of similar meteors this night) appeared between Regulus and Mars.
Slightly bigger mouseover and image details could be found here.

Stefano DeRosa, you're on line, so I must tell you that I was just admiring your spectacular Sun halo over that Sleeping Beauty Castle! :D

I found the "Young moon with Earthshine and Corona" image unusually beautiful too, Mario Weigand. I like the combination of "hard" details on the surface of the Moon and the "soft" mildly colored light around it.

I love that portrait of "the golden city of Honolulu" with the Moon and Mars in the deep blue sky above it.

And that's an irresistible Sun prominence, Behyar Bakhshandeh. It really looks like a ghost jumping out to scare you!

Dani Caxete, that's a lovely picture of that blue and yellow lizard in the grass below Orion, Taurus, the Pleiades (whaich are of course a part of Taurus) and Jupiter.

Teh Running Man Cluster, eh, Stephen Chadwick? Yes, I agree that your image brings an running man to mind!

Bogdan Jarzyna, yours are probably the bluest Pleiades I've ever seen... but I'm not complaining, am I? Besides, you must be commended for bringing out the color difference between the nebulosity around Merope (the pinkish nebulosity) and the blue nebulosity around the other stellar sisters. Even David Malin, many years ago, pointed out this difference.

Markus Blauensteiner, that's a lovely field around Sh2-187, bursting with stars like a multitude of fireflies in technicolor and yet above all conveying the feeling of delightful pastel colors. You know how to please me. :D

Federico Fernández Porredón, I'm envious of you because you got such a splendid view of the conjunction between Venus and Jupiter in 2005. Here in southern Sweden we had splendid weather for at least a fortnight leading up to the conjunction, but on the night when it was really happening it was overcast!!!

Danilo Pivato, your Moon & Jupiter in Pisces over Rome from Mt. Autore image is overwhelmingly beautiful. Thank you!

Antonis Farmakopoulos, I love your M11 Cluster image. The field is so beautiful, bursting with stars like grains of sand, with dark clouds of dust, with some bright stars like colorful shells washed up on a beach, and then the glitteringly colorful Wild Duck cluster in the middle.

Göran Strand, your aurora looks like a fantastic cosmic dancer in the sky. And of course, it's nice to see a fellow Swede here! :D

NGC 6188 is one of my favorite star forming regions in the sky, Manuel Jung, and your image is really very beautiful.

Your portrait of M33 is very handsome, Patrick Hochleitner and Dieter Beer.

And Emil Ivanov, how can I resist your Meteor in the Zodiacal Light between Regulus and Mars? That's a fantastic composition!

NGC 672 is a fascinating galaxy, Oleg Bryzgalov. It has a yellowish bar, but also some very bright star formation regions - actually a bit like the Large Magellanic Cloud! IC 1727 is interestingly similar to NGC 672, but its old population is much fainter than the old yellow population in its slightly brighter neighbour. I was happy to see this pair, because they are not often photographed.
