IC 1396 Montage: Four Narrowband Processing Options
http://www.astrotroniks.com
Copyright: David Rosenthal
[attachment=2]IC1396_Montage.jpg[/attachment]
I put this montage together to demonstrate the various ways narrowband data can be processed by assigning different color channels to accentuate the chemical compositions of the emissions.
Clockwise from the top:
1. Ha[OIII] Bicolor
2. RGB = Ha[SII][OIII]
3. HST ( RGB=[SII]Ha[OIII] )
4. CHFT ( RGB = Ha[OIII][SII] )
The source data was taken with a Takahashi FS-102 and a SXV-H9 CCD camera using Baader NB Filters.
Ha 16*1200 Binned 1X1
[OIII] 12*1200 Binned 1X1
[SII] 10*1200 Binned 1X1

vdB 142 in IC1396
Hello all,
I made this one in 7 nights (started the 29 th of July and ended last 29th of August).
I used my trusty Tak. FS102NSV@ 632mm + QSI532WS-M1 (from -10ºC to -20ºC) located in Portugal.
Ha= 39x 20 min
OIII= 30x 20 min
SII= 30x 20min
for a total of 33 hours!
Processed in the HST palette with the Ha as Lum (I will post the pseudo RGB version in a next post)-
Regards,
paulo

vdB 142 in pseudo RGB
Me again,
Using only the Ha and OIII data I processed as a psudo LRGB image (L=Ha, R=Ha, G=mix of Ha and OIII and B=OIII)
So, the same gear as for the Hubble palette and:
Ha= 39x 20 min
OIII= 30x 20min
or 23 hours of data.
Best Regards,
paulo
