Can we stop these ads
Hi to all.
I'm very much a learner with regards astrophysics but enthralled by the serious scientific knowledge imparted + the APOD & related info
I find that the 'worldy' ads are a useless, pathetic distraction
surely we aim to learn about Science ..Linx

I thought that if we all visited their sites and went thru the "Contact us" link that most all sites have, we could innundate them with e-mails demanding, as users, that they stop those types of postings. They might if they received 1000 e-mails requesting such every day. I hecked a few but those had no such link and the http address way automatically rerouted to other websites. So I tried entering the http address directly but was still rerouted elsewhere. I'll keep trying though
Since ads volume is obviously getting too big for me to handle it alone, I would like to stop using this account for posting and to share its password with other members so that they could kill spam on sight.
Who wants some?
It would also somewhat "democratize" moderation. You would be able to unlock topics or undo edits

Harry has my vote
Even though this isn't a "democracy", I think Harry would be well qualified for the spot. I would love to do it but my working obligations are pretty intense. Harry gets my vote.
Cheers!

Hey, guys and girls...
...there is protection against this type of AD SH1T. The only thing you should do is install anti-spambot registration protection.
Usually, it's an image, and you must enter some digits/letters before to be able to REGISTER. Or when LOGGING IN.
I guess, the AD spam we see on this forum, is NOT generated by humans? Most of the times I see this, it's auto-generated by spambots. To get rid of them, simply install such protection, it's easy...
Hope this helps :)
And greetings to you all! I've been on Astronomy Image Of The Day for more than a month now, and enjoy every picture/photo a LOT, I mean really A LOT, although I'm no astronomer, but webdesigner/coder;-)
