I hope everyone is clicking on each image to see it in a larger size before voting; some of the images benefit a great deal from being seen at the larger size.

(I think they're all amazing! Wish I had more than 3 votes!)

Indeed - three was scarcely fair with the wealth of beauty to choose from! APOD is recreation for the spirit as well as the mind - the learning is such fun it is treasured time, not work ;-)

Polling is ridiculus to cheat

Guys,
The polling system is just ridiculous! Everyone can cheat (and vote multiple times) if he/she clear the cookies of the web browser.
Please do not cheat!!

We're aware of that and have ways to detect it. Of course I hope people vote honestly -- it's better for the poll and less work for me afterwards -- but multiple voting is taken into account after we close a poll.

I fully agree that manipulating with cookies and so is totally unfair. And to be honest I'm surprised this could be done so easily. Maybe I was just to naive, but I didn't even think about this ... But I do have a question. When for a group of colleagues of decide to vote for a picture in a company network that will show up as being from a same IP, as the company uses one outgoing IP number. Is that cheating? Because that sounds a bit strange as there were several people voting from independent systems... I think it's hard to differentiate that from the cookies trick to be honest...

First of all I would like to thank everybody who has voted for our image. It was a real great feeling to see we ended this high in the poll. As a starter in this field, I really thought we had an APOD and you can imagine how good our weekend was. Later I found out that the poll (although officially announced at the APOD site) is only more or less for fun and as an 'advisory' function. So basically the conclusion is we don't have an APOD (although chances are of course not 0, who knows what will happen), and the happiness turned into a bit of awkward happy feeling. But wel, let's go on with imaging, and hopefully one day we'll have a picture that reaches the APOD ranks....

Thanks a lot everybody,

André
