<<Disappointment today at Blackfoot’s Idaho Potato Museum, as the museum was snubbed in its bid to host one of the retiring space shuttles. "We tried not to get our hopes up too high, but we thought it was an opportunity not to be lost for the town of Blackfoot," said Idaho Potato Museum President Clem Kadiddlehopper after the announcement. “A shuttle would have been a game changer, I think,” he told reporters. “It’s a national treasure, it’s an icon of American achievement. I don’t think any other artifact approaches that icon status.” The Enterprise, a test-model space shuttle, went to Intrepid Sea Air and Space Museum in New York City. NASA's Discovery is bound for the Smithsonian Museum in northern Virginia; Atlantis will be housed at the Kennedy Space Center in Florida; and Endeavor will go to the California Science Center in Los Angeles.>>

<<The Idaho Potato Museum in Blackfoot, Idaho is an educational institution celebrating both the potato and its role in the economic growth of Idaho. The museum’s exhibits include the world’s largest potato chip, measuring 25 inches, and a timeline history of potato consumption in the U.S. (including the introduction of French fries to the White House cuisine during the presidency of Thomas Jefferson). Also on display are 1,600-year-old vessels made in Peru, which are believed to be the first equipment used specifically for potato storage. The museum also maintains its own Hall of Fame that pays tribute to individuals who made significant contributions to the potato industry.>>
