Hello to anyone, I was recently reading that it is believed that the universe is expanding at an expoential rate, my question is simple, expanding into what, if space as we know it is contained within the univerise :?:

From the Wikipedia page about this topic...
The metric expansion of space is the increase of distance between distant objects in the universe with time.

It is an intrinsic expansion—that is, it is defined by the relative separation of parts of the universe and not by motion "outward" into preexisting space. In other words, the universe is not expanding "into" anything outside of itself.

Hey I like the New REAL hard question "capture", me-thingy. Anagram's are over my head guys.

As for the post, Me Thinks, "Robs" Wiki, copy and paste, may be an easy way of saying nobody has a clue. Which is what he should of said !

Sorry, Mark, but I think you're the one without a clue. Space is getting bigger. The distance between non-local points is increasing. Space isn't expanding into anything.

Nice try Bystander. - Nothing + Nothing = Universe. No Byte.

Mark, I quoted the Wikipedia page because I don't like to pretend I know more than I do. Think about that.

Hey I got It woohoooo

So why answer Rob ? Until we have the Full picture, nobody can answer that ? Why ? There must be a lot more to 'Nothing" than we all can understand. Why make it even harder for somebody who is trying to learn ?

That is certainly not true. We can provide reasonable answers to many things that are not fully understood- including the question that was asked at the beginning of this particular discussion.

Nope, you did not provide any answers at all. Provide me with Dark Energy, Shell I go On ?

As Kenny Rodgers in "The Gambler" movies used to say - "You have to know when to hold'em and know when to fold'em."
