Here is another Orion Nebula (SH2-281) but I wanded to use it on my new camera with the KAF 8300 sensor. This is a a 2 hour (6x20) exposure in the H-Alpha channel blended in wit 10 minutes (1x10) to help resolve the core area. The Color was 2 hours each channed (10x12) using my MakNewt 8 inch F/4

The Horsehead region in narrowband was very enjoyable and reveals things I have not seen before in this region.

Hmmm... interesting; I cropped this from the linked Supernova Remnant image. Looks like a little halo or, if one prefers, a gaseous toroid.

Hi Owlice,
This is a little surprise in the image, is a planetary nebula called PLN 116+0.1 or WE 2-262.
Best regards

Thanks! I think I'd have missed it entirely if I hadn't looked at the large version.

I used the light from an 18.6 day old moon to illuminate the landscape, revealing a herd of horses. The constellation of Monoceros is completely visible, while Canis Major and Puppis are only partly visible along the horizon. ~ Robert Arn

Well, thanks! I don't know what the object is, but I guess it is a planetary nebula. It sure looks nice and blue, so I like it!

Yes, it's a planetary nebula, NGC 1514.

Ann,
Yes, it is indeed NGC 1514, aka the Crystal Ball Nebula (something it apparently resembles when viewed visually.) IMy apologies, I seem to have dropped the title on the cutting-room floor.
This planetary is unusual, in that it appears to envelop a tightly orbiting pair of stars, one a dying giant, the other an already more-or-less dead white dwarf. Tough luck for any planets in the neighborhood.
Best,
Bob

Here's two images of M104 done in the last two weeks. One was taken with a TOA-130 refractor and the other with a AT RC10". I really love the symmetry of this galaxy!
Thanks for looking!

This is one I have had trouble with because Aldeberanis so close so I have to have someone else use his telescope to capture it. it is a cool object and I did blend the H-Alpha into it but very little of it.
Used an E-210 F/3 with and ST-10 XME, Just RGB with a little HA mixed in.

This page:
http://www.boston.com/bigpicture/2008/0 ... piter.html contains some excellent images that should be considered for an APOD. In particular, the animated eruption of a IO volcano, seventh from the top.
