Not quite sure how the earthquake made it on there. First I've heard of it. Rare tornado was more of a kick in the shins. Blizzard moves up a notch to kick in the balls. Gotta feel sorry for the people around here who had their house or car smashed by a tree and then buried under snow. But I guess Amazing Planet doesn't consider blizzards a natural disaster.

The blizzard was probably too late to make the list. The graphic was probably prepared well before last weekend.

Well, 2010 isn't even over yet. Cataclysm could be just around the corner! It could happen on New Year's Eve! This was a poorly planned graphic.

I think they must not consider blizzards to be natural disasters; the back-to-back blizzards of February might have been mentioned if so. Maybe the body count wasn't high enough to make the list.

There was no body count for the earthquake in NYC either though...I'm done trying to make sense of it.

Here you go, geckzilla. They have seen the error of their ways (with body counts, though they still don't call it a natural disaster).

Hi, the disaster is a disaster it's not a thing that it was big or small , every disaster lead you to the great sin or a bad memory that you are not gonna forget ..

Thanks, bystander, for posting the other article. I get it now: since the back-to-back February snows didn't hit NYC, they don't count. Get a tiny earthquake or a little tornado in NYC though, and boy, that counts. Never mind the flooding and mudslides in Mexico, the extensive snow coverage, the power outages, the deaths, the travel and goods distribution problems, etc., that these major snowstorms caused. Completely unimportant; not even worth mentioning.

I think it likely that if that graphic had been done later, this week's storm would have been on it. Perhaps I might suggest that the publication learn the difference between "natural event" and "natural disaster."
