Hello Orin,
Yes, indeed, rural areas are more peaceful. I prefer to heard the singing of birds than the horns of cars, early in the morning. I like to be able to see stars, at night, while big cities suffer from light pollution. As you said, if you have the basics (work, hospital, school...), it can be great
Nevertheless, I think to a current problem in France: the government tries and send young doctors in rural areas. Indeed, nowadays, there are too many doctors in cities, but not enough in rural areas
Many old people prefer to live in countryside, far away from the bustle and the uproar of cities. Unfortunately, they are often the ones who must need doctors. Someone very old is likely to be deeply interesting, because he/she knows the world better than us. However, for doctors, it is harder to cure very old people than young ones. Indeed, very old people are likely to have different pathologies at the same time, which involves a lot of contraindications. Doctors, above all young doctors, feel more at ease in cities, where they can send an old person at the hospital quickly in case of an emergency, or just be advised by numerous fellow members. Moreover, doctors don't like driving for hours in countryside, because they have less time for their family life.
Have a very good day,
Céline
