7 Towns Where Land is Free

As small towns suffer from a continuing flight from rural toward-more urban living, some economic development groups and governments in these troubled areas have chosen to stay and fight.
The Homestead Act of 1862 is no longer in effect, but free land is still available out there in the great wide open (often literally in the great wide open).
More here.

I don't know how is the sky.
I'm afraid there is no many attractive places in those towns. When politicians want people to live in a rural zone, sometimes you don't find work in those places, because it looks like a desert, a no man's land. So lands are "given"...

That's partially true; but that is how this country moved westward! Free land; the gold rush and the railroad etc. Also; I guess if you have the basics; you don't need the glitter and fast life of the big cities. While the rural areas have a more peaceful and slower pace; there is still plenty to do. :) 8-)

Hello Orin,

Yes, indeed, rural areas are more peaceful. I prefer to heard the singing of birds than the horns of cars, early in the morning. I like to be able to see stars, at night, while big cities suffer from light pollution. As you said, if you have the basics (work, hospital, school...), it can be great  :)

Nevertheless, I think to a current problem in France: the government tries and send young doctors in rural areas. Indeed, nowadays, there are too many doctors in cities, but not enough in rural areas :tree: :tree: :tree:
Many old people prefer to live in countryside, far away from the bustle and the uproar of cities. Unfortunately, they are often the ones who must need doctors. Someone very old is likely to be deeply interesting, because he/she knows the world better than us. However, for doctors, it is harder to cure very old people than young ones. Indeed, very old people are likely to have different pathologies at the same time, which involves a lot of contraindications. Doctors, above all young doctors, feel more at ease in cities, where they can send an old person at the hospital quickly in case of an emergency, or just be advised by numerous fellow members. Moreover, doctors don't like driving for hours in countryside, because they have less time for their family life.

Have a very good day,

What can I say? I hope your Government can solve this problem; but I think it is the same in many places.
Never the less; Free land is an optimum offer! It would be a great opportunity for business and young couples just starting out! It is meant to promote growth to prevent shrinkage of population in rural areas. 8-)
Have a nice day! :b:

I am sure this problem will be solved :) Indeed, they are building medical centers in rural areas, and trying to create more jobs.
