Tornado Alley: New Vacation Hot Spot
Our Amazing Planet | 17 Sep 2010
Vacation is a chance to get away from work, school and the rest of life's daily stresses. Recently though, more and more people have chosen to use that R&R time to put themselves in the path of one of nature's deadliest and most awesome spectacles.

These adventure seekers are choosing to chase tornadoes as they tear their way through the Midwest.
 And I want to get away from here.

I definitely don't want to chase tornadoes, while on vacation or otherwise!

Where do you want to go, bystander?

I was talking about vacations recently with a few people; I've been wanting to ride the Great Alleghany Passage (GAP), and one of the things I need to line up is a way to get home if something happens, if I get sick or hurt, for example. Said one person, "Any vacation planning which requires thinking about medical evacuation is NOT a vacation in my book!"

i would like to take an Inside Passage cruise to Alaska. I would also like to cruise the Intra-Coastal Waterway, but I've never heard of such a cruise. I also think a train ride across the U.S. would be fun, and I've always wanted to raft the Colorado through the Grand Canyon.

I already was in Alaska two years ago, and I'll go back again someday.

Wow, César, those are fabulous!

I've been to Alaska, just once, for work. As luck would have it, I arrived in Anchorage on a Friday so got to spend the weekend bumming around to see what I could see before getting down to business on Monday. Which brings me to... where is the glacier in your picture? I might have seen that very one (or do they all look alike? <g>).

Owlice, how did you get that little mark over the -e- in Cesar? I can come close with the e', but not over like is needed.

Hi Owlice:
Thank you very much.
This is the Hubbard Glacier.

I really enjoyed this trip, I just missed seeing an aurora, and came to Fairbanks, but it was cloudy and cold on those days.
Another day will be.
Regards
César

béyond, magic!! :-D

I usé a Mac, and on it, I hold thé option kéy down whén I préss thé "e" kéy, and thén préss thé "e" kéy without holding anything down. The option-e produces the accent, and applies it to the next vowel I type. áéíóú

Thanks, César! Clearly, not the glacier I saw in Alaska, but I swear, the one I saw looked just like that!

On the PC you can use the character map (go to start/accessories/system tools) for all sorts of interesting things.

I went to Alaska a few years ago. We have some friends that lived up there and worked on one of the tour trains; we got to stay with them in Anchorage and take shorter trips from there. I loved it there, can't wait to go back. Next time I want to go later in the year. We were there in July so it never got dark (very strange thing to experience in and of itself) and thus had no chance of seeing auroras.

Or you can just copy and paste

The only time I was in Alaska, I was 13 and on my way to Japan. We stopped at Elmendorf AFB near Anchorage to refuel and resupply before heading across the big pond. Not many sights to see from the tarmac.

Coming back from Japan was an experience. We left Tokyo (Tachikawa) after lunch. 14 hours, 2 meals, and several snacks later, we arrived in San Francisco (Travis) in time to eat breakfast on the same date we left.

GADZOOKS!!! Now I've got three suggestions on how to put "pips" over e's.
I don't have an option key - that i can find anyway.
I have yet to check out the tools via the start button. I know there's lots of stuff back there.
Copy & paste seems to be hit and miss for me at this website(mostly miss)

Maybe by the time owlice comes back I'll be able to "pip" her e.
