to share. Here are five of his recent finds; which you do think would make the best APOD?

A significant new telescope has to be an APOD, even though the others (especially the moon over Cerro Paranal) are all worthy. And the Trappist Beer reference makes it a sure winner!

All of this crop are fine, but that M83 is too gorgeous for words.

To me, these images were all somewhat uninspiring. However, I do think that the Saturn moons and rings image is fascinating. (My objection, as some of you may have guessed, is that it is black and white.)

As to be expected, I like all of these images and think each would make a fine APOD. I think it's amazing that we even have four of these views from which to choose! TWO gorgeous sunsets, one of which none of us will ever see for ourselves (and the other isn't too likely a view for most of us, either), a lovely spiral galaxy captured by a new eye on the universe (more images to come!), the surface of another planet (how cool is that?!!!), and an astounding view of rings unknown for most of man's history, with moons even more recently discovered... well, I find them all attractive in their own right and think were text written by a professional astronomer, as APOD says, added to them, I'd be certain to learn something new. Even without text, I am glad to see these images; what a rich time we live in!

The dramatic moonset reminds me of some sort of middle eastern warfare game for the playstation 1 its so pixelated, I never picked that one. For me it was the polygons, just because it appears strange to me.

Paul.
