Hi dear Owlice and Group,

In the same day I also took another picture of the Full Moon but with a good view of the Sesimbra´s Castle walls. I would like to share with all of you:

Image

The Castle was located on top of a mountain 240 m (787.40 ft) above sea level. It was taken from the Moors, during the Portuguese reconquest in the year 1165 by king Afonso Henriques with the help of Frank Crusaders.

Thanks, I hope you enjoy it...

Great pictures. The composition of the full moon over the castle is amazing.

That's a beautiful image, Miguel. Thank you!

Please note "the Lady in the Moon". Her face covers much of the full Moon. We see her in profile, looking left. Her face is light-colored, but her profile is outlined as if with a dark pen of some sort. Her hair is also dark.

Image

The full Moon proudly displaying The Lady in the Moon is ever so slightly like a giant locket displaying the portrait of a Moon goddess, isn't it?

I love the fact that the Moon looks so large and round and nearby in your picture, Miguel, and how it appears to "float" on that wispy thin cloud, looking down on the castle that may be its temple.

When I was young and looked at the moon, I saw a woman clothed in a long robe sitting before a vanity. This view of the moon persisted well into adulthood; I had NO idea that "the man on the moon" was what other people actually "saw" on the face of the moon -- I thought it was just an expression. It wasn't until I was in my late 30s (!), thanks to an illustration in a children's book, that I saw the man on the moon.

This feels like true confessions; I don't think I've ever mentioned this to anyone before!!
