The panorama of the Whale Galaxy is simply awesome. The Tarantula has always been one of my favorites in all wavelengths. M87 has been in the news a lot recently ( http://asterisk.apod.com/vie ... 31&t=19547 ). Venus and the Moon from the beach is very restful. I think they need to start a Sun Zoo for SDO, I'm really impressed with the details of SDO's imagery. But I really like Milky Way in conjunction with natural Earth formations, and the pictographs are impressive. I voted for Milky Way Over Ancient Ghost Panel, May 19.

Another week, another difficult choice! The images of the crescent moon over the lake and the Milky Way are pretty, I love that a 17-year-old (!) processed the fabulous Whale Galaxy image, M87 and its jet and the sun images are very cool (perhaps I should say very hot!), but the gorgeous image of the Tarantula Nebula and what I learned from/about it -- the runaway star news especially -- wins my vote. That APOD is the perfect combination of image and text. I like this image so much that I'm contemplating having it made into a wall mural; the toughest part is deciding which room gets it!

I like the ancient rock art image, in part because I've hiked into that place, and I appreciate the effort it took to get it. It never occurred to me to compose an image of this ancient art in this way, and I've never seen it from anyone else.

Difficult call this time around - all marvellous images.
Tentacles of the tarantula caught my eye with its pastel like hues and rich details. It has my vote.
