I know, "search rulez", but so far I could only find this; to fit my purpose, I could patch it with this and alike, but men, what a hussle! there must be whole-europe image somewhere, right?

background: i am making some sort of personal electronic photo-album, and it's going to be zoom-in effect there to the place i have spent my vacation two weeks ago, and then photos attached to actual places they were taken at... so far I've managed to get MODIS 250m perpixel imagery; then I'll scan 1km/cm topographic map to merge with this imagery and so increase resolution up to nonsense. So far it is all okay, but my problem is... where one can get (free) 5+ km per pixel europe imagery for initial zoom-in phase (APOD, or elsewhere)? I can only find either too detailed stuff (2km and less), or too poor.
Anybody?
