Unexpected Impact on Jupiter (Sept 8, 2009)

umm, yeah. I thought I had to download a newer version of flash or something. I seriously thought there was some malfunction with the image. usually I like to view the picture first and get an idea of what the explanation is talking about. needless to say I was trying my best to ignore the series of images in this apod just so I could concentrate on the caption. this is one of the rare APODs where I am getting a better mental picture from the explanation.

I was surprised that the center of the "impact chevron" appeared to rotate in perfect synchrony with the Great Read Spot.

Why would that be?

During a cycle of the animation (which repeats at least once more) a black area is seen in 3 of the frames (I think it is only 3) on or just in from the right edge. Are they shadows of a moon or moons. :?:
