I love photos like this! It's always nice to see some terrain with a shot of the Moon and Venus and another planet in it. This time, Mars. But the River ans the lights on the banks add to the beauty. 8)

<<Eric Pålsson Mullica (Mullikka) was an early Finnish settler to New Sweden. He and his family were the source of the name of several geographic features and places in New Jersey.
Mullica was born during April 1636 in Mora, Delsbo parish, Hälsingland,
Sweden. His father was Pål Jönsson Mullica who arrived in New Sweden with his wife and children on the vessel Örnen during 1654 from Sweden. The family Mullica had earlier immigrated to Sweden from Finland. "Mullica" is approximately variated from the Finnish term mullikka, which means bull or young bull.
Mullica lived for several years at Tacony, adjoining the present-day Frankford neighborhood of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and later moved to the area of Little Egg Harbor, New Jersey. Mullica built a homestead near
Little Egg Harbor.
[Is diss some kinda yoke?] The area in which he resided near Little Egg Harbor was named Mullica Township in Atlantic County, New Jersey in his honor. What had been known as the "Little Egg Harbor River" is now called the Mullica River. Mullica later moved further north to an area now known as Mullica Hill, a census-designated place located within Harrison Township, in Gloucester County, New Jersey.
Mullica first married Ingrid, the daughter of Olof Philipsson, a Finn who arrived with his family on the Mercurius in 1656. All of Mullica's eight children were by his first wife. After Ingrid's death, Mullica married Ingeborg Helm, daughter of Capt. Israel Helm. Mullica died before 1704.>>

KRAMER: Well, a bowl of mulligatawny would hit the spot.
ELAINE: Mulligatawny?
KRAMER: Yeah. It's an Indian soup. It's simmered to perfection
. by one of the great soup artisans in the modern era.
ELAINE: Oh! Who? The Soup Nazi?
KRAMER: He's not a Nazi. He just happens to be a little eccentric. Most geniuses are.

Has anyone noticed? The reflection fo the Moon; Mars; and Venus almost appear brighter in Mullica than they do in the sky!
What causes this?

Artistic liberties in optical corrections.
It looks like the contrast in the darker lower left quadrant was kicked up for artistic balance.

It could also be an elongation effect from the light being reflected off the nearly smooth water surface

I noticed that and thought I would post a comment about it until I saw you had already done it Orin. Clearly great minds think alike!
It is an excellent scene.

Thanks David: I noticed Mars really showed up well in the water. I then noticed that Venus and the Moon were brighter also. I like Dr Skeptic's explanation. I saved the photo in a file to use a a wallpaper someday. 8)

________ Inferno: Canto 34
.
A place there is below, from Beelzebub
As far receding as the tomb extends,
Which not by sight is known, but by the sound
Of a small rivulet, that there descendeth
Through chasm within the stone, which it has gnawed
With course that winds about and slightly falls.
[T]he Guide and I into that hidden road
[N]ow entered, to return to the bright world;
[A]nd without care of having any rest
[W]e mounted up, he first and I the second,
Till I beheld through a round aperture
Some of the beauteous things that Heaven doth bear;
Thence we came forth to rebehold the stars.

The picture was recorded on May 22nd from the banks of the Mullica River, in a forested region ... Of course, most of the Moon is illuminated by Earthshine, ...
It shows the Moon, Mars and Venus reflected in the still waters of the Mullica River.
Very simple photo... camera on tripod, 10 second exposure. No manipulation at all.
Phew, I'm exhausted! I never thought I would be looking forward to clouds!
