What a beautiful Photo! I kind of picture in my mind that this is what the Milky Way must look like from the outside. 8)

'Also known as the Needle Galaxy for its narrow profile,' I wonder if the Milky Way is a little thicker though.

That infrared photo (your second url) is amazing.

I think the infrared photo of the Milky Way looks very much like the needle galaxy. Of course it being made from inside our galaxy may alter the actual shape of it. :?
