What's with string theory?

I've been a bit out of the loop as of late and am just wondering if anyone knows what the latest is with string theory and the pursuit towards the grand unified theory. Just a bit curious and out of touch.

Sorry to disappoint you Dutchman, but it seems that you have picked the wrong
Forum and Website for your question. There is no string, bubble, plasma, electric or any other possible explanations for what we see in the universe, and most especially possible theories for where everything came from. This is a Bang and only Bang website.

Hello All
This is a science website.
THX1138 you should not close doors to people who show interest in cosmology.
You can use the info of the Big Bang to explain your ideas. But! not to close the doors on them.
Imagine: A possibility not a fact
A few years down the track the Big Bang theory is put to rest.
What has this website done to the modern world?
hello
dutchman
Just google for the info.
If you need to discuss any issues. Just ask

indeed harry, seems you did not recieve my pm after that post reply.
in overview, i cannot put words to how wrong i feel about the BBT, none the less i leave the topic pretty much alone considering that perhaps only one in a hundred feel the same way as i. In a nutshell,,,,,,,,,
There was nothing before the big bang, then there was this universe.
I'm sorry APOD but that seems higly unlikely.
There was something before any bang
Not to mention, but it is besides the point. there was first base

Yes there is indeed. The physical universe is a constantly created fractal projection from a non-physical origin. There is no absolute smallest physical particle, nor absolute largest physical formation. Infinity both ways.

Try
this forum; there are lots of very interested (and very knowledgeable) participants.
Here we tend to focus more on astronomy, astrophysics, and cosmology; AFAIK, there is no testable phenomenology, from string theory, in these domains (yet).
