Giant Space Cow?

http://apod.nasa.gov/apod/ap070829.html

Very cool footage. The phenomenon looks like the upside down version of what I'd imagine a cosmic ray air shower to look like.

The gigantic jet shape is also reminiscent of particle jets and showers common in high-energy physics: Annotated ATLAS cross-section; ATLAS black hole decay cross-section.

(By the way, I'm pretty sure the "UFO" in the software name was meant to be tongue-in-cheek :))

Y'ah think?

Not necessarily. The object imaged would be unidentified when the image was captured on film. The identification would come later. UFO image capture is appropriate.

bystander is of course right; I wasn't sure what craterchains was trying to insinuate in his post.

If people would actually read the APODS, check the links, about the people that post, etc, etc, etc, , , , they would understand and comprehend the remarks I make.
