Good time for Cassini to have photographed the earth-Moon System.

For those that tried to click on the link for "dramatic," it currently points to:

This gets an error; I assume there is a transposition of the last 2 numbers, and should point to:

http://antwrp.gsfc.nasa.gov/apod/ap030724.html


This is a great (yes, even dramatic!) picture of Mars beyond the moon. I'm sure it will be corrected soon.

Oh, and the picture with Jupiter is pretty great too!

Amazing picture! I'd have never even guessed such an exposure was possible (although it does mention that Saturn is brightness/contrast enhanced). My first thought was it was a 2 picture overlay like the recent Moon/Andromeda APOD, but Jens Hackmann pulled it off in one picture.

The Mars picture is great, too.

I would like to get one with the moon where one can also see Mars, Jupiter, and Saturn in the same image. I took an image of the moon and pasted the three planets separate alignment photos into it. Interesting to see the apparent size difference and then to consider the vast distances between each of them and us.

the picture is cut and pasted and hanging on the side of my desk. I need to know a place (website) where the files (pictures) could be posted to for attachment purposes. Any suggestions?? I had an ImageHosting account but the website changed and the file is too large to place there. I should probably take a smaller (file size) picture of it and try to post it somewhere, but where?

Can't say I've used them myself but I've heard they are pretty good.

I took an image of the Moon and Mars

and the mars image from here

took Saturn from this image

and Jupiter from another.

I imported the images into Autocad to establish relative planetary sizes compared to the moons disk. I then printed clear copies of the three planets and placed them onto a print of the moon which I then photographed. The only photoshop work done was to crop the final imageso that the surrounding context was removed from the image.
