can you explain about the new planet obtained? and why is pluto said a planet? what are the critereas to call something a planet?

The term PLANET has several requirements which include must orbit a star (rogue worlds?). Must have swept its orbit clear of debris (I don't know what this would mean about Jupiter and Its Trojans. Must be large enough that its specific gravity is sufficient to pull it into a sphere. If there is a moon involved, the PLANET must be in the primary orbit and the moons orbital center must fall within the mass of the planet (In the case of Pluto/Charon, the pair orbit the sun but they orbit each other where Charons center of orbit falls outside the body of Pluto (barycenter?)).

Given the current limits of our technology, we cannot detect anything as small as Pluto, yet, so therefore anything we do detect must be a planet (unless it is a dual planetary body like 2 earths that are orbiting a central point as they also orbit their star) (would that be possible?)

"COULD" is a very important word in this sentence. I say "yes" with a lot of "If". Meaning, the planet might be at the same distance from his sun as earth is from our sun. "But", the size of that planet or its revolution or its axis of revolution or the type of sun it revolve around , all those might also stop life from emerging.
So what it mean is "Yes it could". And its facinating to imagine life there. More study and more powerfull telescope are needed to know the answer.
Time will tell and futur astronomer.

Planet hunters are finding about 2 planets every month. Let's hope that the Kepler mission doesn't get canceled. It could make for some exciting astronomy to be able to find earth type planets orbiting nearby stars.

If they did used a very very powerful telescope..n hope we "could" search for new life at the so called "earth",maybe a cell,(paramecium,amoeba),would make every astronomer's or star gazers amazed to the fact that,we are not alone.. 8)

Quite alright Harry! I didn't realize there were that many either. Think how many objects are beyond Pluto that haven't been discovered yet.

Probably 100 fold the number of known moons and unknown moons and probably known asteroids included

I do think that someday mar's moon,phobos n deimos will sink into mars surface..>.<

Then in another 10~50years,mars would have no moons to orbit around mars

On the subject of objects beyond Pluto, does anyone know much about the Kuiper Belt (supposed to contain another dwarf planet "Quaoar"), and beyond that "Sedna", another dwarf planet(?), and what about the Oort Cloud (how did it get that name?).
