Notice how the plume of Tvashtar is flooded with sunlight as it comes out of Io"s shadow. It makes for a stunning photo. I also notice that at about 4:30 there is what looks to be another volcanic plume, Or this a light colored feature on the planet?

Another plume, likely from the volcano Masubi, is illuminated by Jupiter just above this lower right edge.
Very cool image!!! Keep 'em coming!

The ISS orbits somewhere around 300-350 km, IIRC.
Of course, volcanoes on Io get quite a bit of a bonus because the surface gravity is only 0.18 of earth's. On earth, ejecta clouds have been known to exceed 20 km altitude.
And some people think space is boring...

Hi Harry & thanks for posting the links on Io, they are excellent
i think the 'EruptingVolcanoes' photo is simply amazing (+the colour scheme harmonizes so well )
the past few decades have provided such advances in the ability to provide such wonderful photographs + data & growth of knowledge
i should imagine that the scientific & photographic achievements of the coming years will be equally exiciting ..we will see even nearer & clearer
here's to all of our futures..sharedknowledge, gifted wrapped in peace
