Could it be that these storms are bringing material up from underneath that is reddish in color?
It's interesting the new red spot formed from two whitish storms. I noticed that there is a white spot above the giant red spot. Do you suppose Jupiter may get another red spot?

Is the Red Spot really 300 years old?
The premise that the Red Spot is 300 years old is based on the fact that it was seen in early telescopes roughly 300 years ago. If new red spots are seen to be forming, we might want to consider the possibility that Red Spots come and go over time.
