It's two layers of fur. One fluffy under layer and a protective outer layer of longer, coarser hairs. I wasn't going to bring up the blubber...

ha-ha, ok. But it reminds me of a question....Is a fat cat a blubber puss :?: And now that the tempreture here has dropped to 8' F, little sparkles are appearing in the grass. Must have hit the dewpoint. The air really feels Frosty :!: :!: BRRR, shiver-shiver.

Here it is almost 2:00 am and the tempreture is now down to 4' F. There are more little shiny spots in the grass than before. It's almost like having a lawn full of stars. No constellations, just consternation at the cold. My black pipe down-spout extension is looking somewhat grey and is covered with sparkles. Is it spring yet :?: Heh, it will officially be winter in a few days. I bet it will be about 40' F and rainey. Hey! Where the hell is some of that global warming :?: :?:

Rain and a temperature of 39! Happy two-days-before-winter!

Could be worse. Maybe in an alternate universe the water freezes at 39 degrees and Earth is a big snowball.

And the grass is exactly the place where I don't want to see any stars!

But Ann, you won't get a crick in your neck from looking at sparkles in the grass.

But Ann, you can make up your own constellations and nebulas, AND, name them after whom, or whatever you want, including yourself.
In your picture, i see the 'leaf' cluster, almost in the middle.

Hmmm... the "Brown Pleiades"?

There ya go. It's just that you posted a picture of a very sparce part of Ann's universe, so there's not much there to name.

I think that the chances here of having a white Christmas are slim...to none. There are no predictions for snow over the next few days. So...how are the chances of snow on Christmas elsewhere?

I don't agree with Bing. I'm dreaming of a white Christmas...not. Fortunately, it doesn't look as if we will have any snow on Christmas.

We'll likely get a light dusting of snow here on our peninsula in the Atlantic on Friday, and since it's supposed to remain below freezing for a few days, we'll have a slightly white Christmas. But there's little certainty in weather forecasts this close to the sea. Ask me Christmas Eve.

It's been 50' F all day. Here it is 10:30pm and it's still 50' F and rainy, with the clouds to the west of me getting lit up a little by lightning flashes. I guess i got just a tad of that global warming.

We got a sprinkling of snow this morning that should be gone before noon as the sky is clear and it is supposed to be mild today! 8-)

Now that it's Christmas Eve, what do you think the chances of having a white Christmas are?

0% chance here, which I think is too bad, as almost all of the Christmas holidays have had snow.

Oh well; I don't think it snowed in Bethlehem on that first Christmas either! I don't mind; I'm past the traditional image of a White Christmas! I do like the song; but I don't want snow! It gets too cold afterwards. As per wiki; this is Bethlehem's climate.
Bethlehem has a Mediterranean climate, with hot and dry summers and cold winters. Winter temperatures (mid-December to mid-March) can be cold and rainy. January is the coldest month, with temperatures ranging from 1 to 13 degree Celsius (33–55 °F). From May through September, the weather is warm and sunny. August is the hottest month, with a high of 27 degrees Celsius (81 °F). Bethlehem receives an average of 700 millimeters (28 in) of rainfall annually, 70% between November and January.[64]

Bethlehem's average annual relative humidity is 60% and reaches its highest rates between January and February. Humidity levels are at their lowest in May. Night dew may occur in up to 180 days per year. The city is influenced by the Mediterranean Sea breeze that occurs around mid-day. However, Bethlehem is affected also by annual waves of hot, dry, sandy and dust Khamaseen winds from the Arabian Desert, during April, May and mid-June.[64]

Contrary to the forecast, which was for a dusting of snow yesterday, we ended up with about 10 to 15 cm of snow, which then froze hard as the temperature dropped last night. So we have a white Christmas this year and everyone is happy (except those of us who had to shovel their driveways out after the plow went by.)

Well, here it is January 7th, it's 53' F out side, and I've got a lone honey-bee buzzing my yellow sun-lit sideing on the west side of my house. Maybe I'll take the lawn mower for a spin and charge the battery.
