After three failed attempts, I finally got to shoot an image of The Shard with a full moon behind it. Using a Sigma zoom lens and at a distance of over 2 kilometres away, the moon races through frame, so you only have a few minutes to capture the shot.

Having the opportunity to observe a solar eclipse is something unexplainable. This is the most spectacular known event in the solar system.
Even with thousands of photos and videos published online, no one will ever be able to explain the dimension of observing a solar eclipse.
A solar eclipse, without a doubt, makes us think of the magnitude of our universe and how such a rare event like this can bring tears to everyone's eyes.
It also makes us remember the ancient civilizations that at the same time admired and feared the "sun god". When they observed an eclipse, they thought it was a sign from their "God", who was sending them a divine message.
Today, we hold the knowledge about this spectacular event and we can precisely predict the time, duration, and location of the next solar eclipses years in advance.
The images we observed on July 2, 2019, in Vicuña-Chile, will forever be available to everyone, and the true images of the beauty of this event will forever stay in our hearts and minds.

Full corona captured on the 2nd of July 2019 total solar eclipse, shot from Villa General Belgrano, Córdoba - Argentina.
Took 13 frames with my Canon S5IS and tried to compose an enhanced detail HDR with them. This is the final result.

Two results from earlier this month involving the stunning and faithful replica of the Erechtheion at Karyes (two hrs southwest of Athens). One of the most prominent structures atop the Acropolis is the Erectheion on the north side of the Acropolis and whose southern facade includes six marble statues depicting the legendary dancers from Karyes and who would annually have a dance in honor of the Goddess Artemis (please see https://apod.nasa.gov/apod/ap081221.html ).

I have had this location on my radar for about three years and, finally, earlier this month was the opportunity I have been waiting for with pristine clear skies with a very young crescent moon being a non-factor and in contrast to hazy skies further northeast (in Athens).

One camera was positioned to the south of the document for a wide field view involving both the monument and the North Celestial Pole. The second camera was placed inside the monument itself and which was also pointed at the North Celestial Pole.

A very productive all-nighter!

The seeing was also good, so I mostly observed Jupiter and Saturn, but I took a short break between the planetes to take a picture of the Moon.

These 3 images were all done from 20h29 TU to 22h15 TU on July 16th, with my 250 mm telescope. We are lucky to have all these targets in the sky at the same time.

All these target are very low in the sky from Paris, about 20°. I have good image because I'm at the 10th flore, so I can avoid ground disturbance.

Apollo 11 anniversary Lunar Eclipseappollo
Few days ago, the world celebrated the launch of the greatest expedition in the history of humankind, bringing tree astronauts to the Moon.
At the same time, trying to steal the spotlight, Earth crossed the path of the sun in the sky of the Moon, leading to a beautiful partial eclipse.

Here is a small chaplet of this lunar event, also an opportunity top unveil the curves of our Home.

I witnessed three lunar eclipses from Bahrain (one total and two partial), as the moon passes through different path through the Earth’s umbra, I could combined 3 lunar eclipses paths (Partial 7 Aug 2017, Total 27 Jul 2018 and Partial 16 Jul 2019) to get the (almost) full circular umbra of the Earth. The red moons in the middle are from the total phase of 27 Jul 2019 eclipse, the longest in 21st century.

My image captures the molecular cloud LDN 1235, also known as the Dark Shark Nebula, in the constellation Cepheus. This cloud captures the viewer’s attention for its remarkable shape, while showing examples of dark absorption nebula, bright reflection nebula, and extended red emission nebula.

For this image I integrated 19 sub-exposures, each 480 second long, via a 65 mm f/6.5 apochromatic quadruplet astrograph, with a Nikon D5500 DSLR (modified to let H-alpha radiation reach the sensor) from a dark site (SQM 21.7 mag/arcsec2). Each sub-exposure was calibrated with bias frames, dark frames and flat frames, and the 19 sub-exposures were stacked together. The stack was then processed using PixInsight and StarNet++.

Transit of the ISS by the sun on April 10, 2019 in Mexico City.

The first image corresponds to a mosaic of several photos in alpha hydrogen with a Coronado PST telescope and a risingcam ar0130c

The second photograph was made in visible light with a black polimer filter, an 8-inch telescope and a dslr camera.

The transit of the ISS by the sun or the moon is relatively common, however, it takes me 2 years to capture it. I can be done in 2 telescopes at the same time.
