- Who am I?
- What am I?
- I have gazed into the abyss and stolen a secret from the gods.

I actually use a color version of this image as my avatar on the International Skeptics forum (formerly the JREF forum).
What first occurred to me is from the "Ode to Joy" by Beethoven/Schiller: "Seek Him beyond the starry canopy!" ("Such’ ihn über’m Sternenzelt!"). If you want to remove the religious element, just use "Seeking beyond the stars" or "Seeking beyond the heavens and the Earth".
Referring to the medieval idea of heavenly spheres (actually as depicted, and maybe similar to what Schiller had in mind), "Into the Empyrean" or "Seeking beyond the celestial sphere".
That's a possibility. In the book (p. 163), the caption for that illustration is "Un missionnaire du moyen àge raconte qu'il avait trouvé le point où le ciel et la Terre se touchent." Google Translate renders that as "A missionary of the Middle Ages tells that he had found the point where heaven and earth meet."rwbb wrote:How about using the quote in the paragraph of the original book? It would make a superb title for the illustration:
'Where the sky and the Earth touch.'
