On December 13th and 14th the annual Geminid Meteor shower peaked.
There was a last quarter moon rising at 11:30pm so plenty of time to observe meteors.
Here's one of them, with Gemini upper right.

The sky in the Ground and the Ground in the Sky

Two image composition. The image of the sky was facing south, the image of the ground was facing east. So I was not able to get good sky while I was in the plane returning home, but the ground was lighted by the moon, blending the image I took from the ground in the airplane with a sky picture I took while back I was able the get a ISS look from the earth.

Moonlight

Earth as seeing from my window. I spend a lot of time doing some Astrophotos and Earth pictures while traveling back home, I just love to see how moonlight paints the nightscape seeing from an airplane.

The evening after - Geminid meteors composite

The night of the shower peak was behind clouds but the evening after, on 14th December I had a chance of some meteor hunting. Although the circumstances were very far from being good, high humidity, shallow fog and also some clouds were present, still I had 3 hours of Geminids with lots of beautiful bright meteors. The most beautiful was a green, -6 mag. bright fireball.
I created a composite of the Geminids that fell into my field of view.

Geminid meteors captured over two nights from central Victoria, Australia, Saturday 13th and Sunday 14th December 2014.

Image

Canon 6D and 24mm lens. Background image is 30 secs @f2.8, ISO3200. Meteors captured in individual frames of 2-3 secs, @f1.4, ISO6400. I rolled nearly 9000 of these very short images over two nights from two different locations to capture these few meteors. This composite places each meteor in its correct position relative to the stars and constellations so you can see the position of the radiant in the constellation Gemini at the bottom of the frame with Orion in the centre.

One long earth-grazing meteor on the right hand side lasted through three exposures, with short gaps in the trails between the rapid exposures.
