Gamma Cygni Region
It took three months go get enough clear nights go gather nearly 16 hours of narrow band data for this wide field image. I may well have spent more time processing this than I did imaging it over the months since, as I've been through several iterations and palettes, most of which I have discarded. Stretched appropriately, the Ha data will flood the entire frame. I toned it down a bit and so this is my "less is more" approach, but basically a Hubble Palette. Ha 3nm, OIII 3nm, and SII 3nm filters on QSI 683 & a 200mm Canon lens.

A new planet in Vela

At a visual magnitude of 15 and just 2 arc min across, very few images exist of this beautiful planetary nebula located in the
southern constellation of Vela and designated Wray 17-31. Approximately 16,000 years old this nebula has a very blue 18th
magnitude H rich white dwarf star at its centre.

OMG I can't believe you imaged this!!! This has been one of my favourite obscure southern planetary nebulae since seeing the AAO image 15 years ago! To me, the primary designation is VBRC 2, see the VBRC paper from 1973 here:
http://cdsads.u-strasbg.fr/abs/1973ApJ...179..863V
Aww, you're the best Mike Sidonio in the world!! Don Goldman has got to work his magic on this Vela gem!

For those of you wondering, WR 22 is the brightest star visible near the right edge of the image.

This is one of the best regions in Orion, and that's saying something after the colourful nebula goodness to be found in this constellation. The reflection nebula is Ced 51, Adam Block did an awesome closeup of it:
