Comet PANSTARRS in the sky over Brittany, France.
Quit difficult to see with the naked eyes, but really nice with the live view of my canon 6D.

No luck observing the comet tonight. The sky was cloudy around sunset, but it cleared up later in the night, just in time to watch an orange crescent Moon set behind the Point Bonita lighthouse. (The photo was shot in the Presidio of San Francisco. The lighthouse is on the other side of the Golden Gate, about three miles away, and about two and a half miles west of the famous bridge.)

What a great (and green) way to begin St. Patrick's Day! The CME hit us in Fairbanks, Alaska right as predicted late on the evening of March 16 and, with few exceptions, kept us aurora photographers hopping all night long. The only reason I gave up around 2 a.m. is that I ran out of memory cards for my digital camera! One of the most lovely auroral shapes--the corona--occurred one after the other after the other and was one of the prettiest displays I've seen in many years.

Auroras

On March 18th 2013, I was in a forest near Kiiminki, Finland, waiting for Northern lights. Three days earlier a coronal mass ejection from the sun made its way towards Earth. Once the sky was dark enough amazing auroras appeared. Arcs, needles, curtains, coronas, red, green, purple, you name it! It was as if Lady Aurora opened a restaurant with an all-you-can eat buffet and she made sure no-one stayed hungry.

No PANSTARRS comet today, but horses...

Horses under stars!
It is a picture that I couldn't miss... Nice sky show and horses standing without moving during 20s.
