The Flying Squirrel Nebula—that was my immediate impression.

(It also looks like a pillow with an unusually large tag not to be removed under penalty of law.)

The Beignet nebula. Google it and look at the image. It's a dead ringer.

The article has an error. It says that NGC 7027 began expanding about 600 years ago. That is incorrect - the nebula is about 2,900 light years away, so we can't see anything that has happened in the past 2900 years. Rather, they should say that the light that reaches us today shows and expansion that had been underway for 600 years when the light left the nebula.
