M45 Pleiades Star Cluster - Merope Nebula & IC 349 (Barnard's Merope Nebula)
IC 349 (Barnard's Merope Nebula) is a small, bright extension of the Merope Nebula (NGC 1435) in the Pleiades star cluster. IC 349 lies 36 arc-seconds (corresponding to a linear distance of about 0.06 light-year or 3,500 times the Earth-Sun distance) to the southeast position angle 165°) of Merope. This small reflection nebula first discovered by E. E. Barnard in 1890 and is also referred to as Barnard's Merope Nebula.
In the 1999 Hubble Space Telescope image shown here, Merope itself is just outside the frame on the upper right. The colorful rays of light at the upper right, pointing back to the star, are an optical phenomenon produced within the telescope, and are not real. However, the remarkable parallel wisps extending from lower left to upper right are genuine features, seen for the first time.
In 1890, American astronomer E.E. Barnard, observing visually with the Lick observatory 36-inch telescope in California, discovered an exceptionally bright nebulosity adjacent to the bright Pleiades star Merope. It is now cataloged as IC 349, or "Barnard's Merope Nebula."IC 349" is so bright because it lies extremely close to Merope--only about 3,500 times the separation of the Earth from the Sun, or about 0.06 light-year--and thus is strongly illuminated by the star's light.

Treasures of the southern sky.
This images shows the interesting objects of the southern sky. The Southern Cross, Coal Sack nebula, star Hadar, Alpha Centauri and even Proxima Centauri - the closest star to us. It can be distinguished at the limit of sight in this image. At the time of shooting the weather was bad(in Patagonia the weather is almost always bad
), the sky was attended by a transparent haze. That is why the stars are swollen. But in this case it's look nice

M45 Pleiades or Seven Sister
In astronomy, the Pleiades or Seven Sisters (Messier 45 or M45), is an open star cluster containing middle-aged, hot B-type stars located in the constellation of Taurus. It is among the nearest star clusters to Earth and is the cluster most obvious to the naked eye in the night sky. The celestial entity has several meanings in different cultures and traditions.
The cluster is dominated by hot blue and extremely luminous stars that have formed within the last 100 million years. Dust that forms a faint reflection nebulosity around the brightest stars was thought at first to be left over from the formation of the cluster (hence the alternative name Maia Nebula after the star Maia), but is now known to be an unrelated dust cloud in the interstellar medium, through which the stars are currently passing. Computer simulations have shown that the Pleiades was probably formed from a compact configuration that resembled the Orion Nebula. Astronomers estimate that the cluster will survive for about another 250 million years, after which it will disperse due to gravitational interactions with its galactic neighborhood.
