Dreamlike version of the current eruption. Several elements are interesting to observe on this image. From bottom to top :
- Notice the lights of the hikers visiting the Piton Bert (the best viewpoint of the eruptiob) from the parking Foc-Foc.
- The Piton de la Fournaise erupted illuminating a portion of the enclosure.
- In the middle, the Milky Way.
- Also notice the Zodiacal Light with Mercury, the brightest object.
- At the top, the Piton des Neiges, the highest peak in the Indian Ocean.
- Finally, the headlights of cars on the Plaine des Sables.

Candles in the Dark
Unusual Light Pillars over Provincia de Buenos Aires, Argentina.
On the night of July 20th 2015.
This 7 vertical image panorama (Sony a7 / 14mm Rokinon 2.8 / Iso 8000 / 20150720 / 00:00 UT) documents a series of light pillars, at General Belgrano, Provincia de Buenos Aires, Argentina.
I was doing stars photos, however, clouds came in, there was an meteorological prediction of a partially clouded night, however I couln't missed the chance of doing some milky way images in the early winter night, so I went there, to the Salado River, I walk around 1 hour and a half to get to this possition.
I saw a Light pillar in directon to a town called Castelli about 50 km away, then a second light pillar appears in direction to a town called Guerrero. Air was moving from NW to SE.
I was packing to get back, after a couple of images and a time lapse, but then I witness what I called an amazing atmosphere moment, since there was not only one, there was several light pillars, I never saw something like this before, I was impressed and it was a shocking moment.
Image Location:
General Belgrano facing NorthWest.
Buenos Aires-35.772005, -58.440648

Stargazing in Paradise
Taken at the Dry Tortugas National Park off of Key West Florida from the campgrounds. My daughter and son-in-law posed for me while I exposed for 60 seconds with a modified Canon T3i on a sky tracker. Just before the exposure ended, I gave them a little flash to lighten them up against the milky way. Shot at ISO 800. The skies at this national part are gloriously dark.
