Starlight by Moonlight
Richard S. Wright Jr.

A six second DSLR exposure as a nearly full moon rises lights up the landscape and the sky. In a longer exposure the reflected sunlight starts turning the sky blue just as if in daytime, while the stars are still able to shine through. The radio antenna shown here is known at 26 East. It was built in 1962 as part of a NASA tracking station and was used during the Apollo missions, then later as an NSA listening post, and today is part of PARI (The Pisgah Astronomical Research Institute) a radio observatory, science museum and outreach center near Rosman North Carolina.

The Gathering

Photo Credit: Amit Ashok Kamble (Auckland Astronomical Society)

This image sums up an astro night at pakiri beach. A beautifu beach, sound of waves crashing, bioluminescence, milkyway, moon rising and Lunar crepuscular rays.

Moon rise is definitely the most breathtaking moments on earth, it is so elegant and serene at the same time. As the moon rose behind the island, Jonathan , Joanne and I sat down on the beach enjoying the beauty, just to realize we should be capturing the moment. we jumped back to our cameras and started taking shots.

As i was taking this shot, a car drove in with super bright headlights which illuminated the beach, lucky that he turned them off pretty quick.

This is a 2 horizontal image panorama.

252 MP Southern Panorama
252 MP Southern Panorama
In this panorama you can see the core of the Milky Way at the far left, the Sagitarius constellation, part of the Southern Cross at the middle, the Coalsack Nebula, the Carina Nebula (home to a dying star likely to die in a hypernova), and the Large Magellanic Cloud at the bottom - which is a nearby galaxy and satellite of the Milky Way.

This panorama consists of 3 rows of 5 pictures each, for a total of 252 mega pixels (23373 x 10811), and was taken in Esteros del Iberá (Ibera Wetlands; from Wikipedia: "it's a mix of swamps, bogs, stagnant lakes, lagoons, natural slough and courses of water in the center and center-north of the province of Corrientes, Argentina). z

Bigger version: https://500px.com/photo/108386689/milky ... arc%C3%ADa

If it ends up selected, I'll upload the full 252 MP file so everyone can download it.

"Venus observes how UK reminds the victory in the I World War"

The Westminster Abby and Big Ben remind the victory in World War I with a light towards the sky. This light draws a "V" of their victory. A show which only can be seen in the aniversary of the war. The photo was taken in May 10th.
