Hello everyone:
My friends and I, think that the North ice polar cap fo mars is smaller than usual for the season now.
I took this picture on 2014/03/07 at 01:35 U.T. with Celestron EDGE HD and DMK21AU618.AS mono camera in R.G.B. mode.
Altitude above the horizon: 36 degrees
Angular size: 12.26 degrees.
Greetings
The Great Orion Nebula (M42)

Explanation: another shot from last night's shoot at Tauwharanui regional park, this is a single frame, used a torch to light up the foreground and love how the milkyway just rises above the tree ( i framed the shot that way )

Lunar Halo

Explanation: Venus Halo
you always see halo around the moon or the sun, early morning i was at Tauwharanui regional park and shot this amazing venus halo. It was so amazing to see the venus rise, it looks nice and bright reddish/orange when it comes up. As it rose up, sea mist came in and so did clouds, but they really added to the beauty of venus by creating a halo around it.
Exif: 1.6S, f8, ISO 3200, 300mm using Tamron 70-300 on Nikon D5100
A halo is an optical phenomenon produced by ice crystals creating colored or white arcs and spots in the sky. Many are near the sun or moon but others are elsewhere and even in the opposite part of the sky. They can also form around artificial lights in very cold weather when ice crystals called diamond dust are floating in the nearby air.
